An Unsigned Bands Guide to Touring

A popular dream for an up and coming band is touring. Whilst often perceived as something only ‘big’ bands do, It’s regularly achieved by those without a big following and can be great way of meeting new musicians and promoting your band.

Touring is all about planning, it often takes months to plan even just a week long tour as there are so any variables you have to consider. Below is an average day during a band’s tour.

(Please note; 90% of unsigned band tours DO NOT involve: Paid tour managers, roadies, booking agent or hotels)

10am – Waking up (often hung-over)on a sofa or floor in a sleeping bag (assuming you remembered to bring it!)

12pm – Getting your things together to leave for the next gig. Allowing time for vehicle breakdown and food/toilet stops.

4pm – Arriving in the town/city you’re playing – busking/handing out flyers for the nights gig.

6pm – Arrive at the venue, hopefully without too many problems. Load in gear and sound check. Find food for dinner and await stage time.

12am – finish gig, load gear back in and travel to where you’re staying.

When planning the tour, negotiate with the promoters on how much you’re getting paid and if possible somewhere to stay and some food. There’s no harm in asking, maybe the promoter will say yes! Getting a space on someone’s floor for the night is invaluable. You definitely don’t want to be spending money on hotel costs if you’ve only got ?50 between 4 people. A lot of touring relies on peoples generosity, take what you can get.

Budgeting on tour is very important. Realistically with food and travel costs for 4 band members on tour you’re going to be spending a minimum of ?50 a day. This includes cost for fuel, food and drink. Expect to be paying out extra for new guitar/bass strings, drum sticks and guitar leads too.

Having merchandise to sell on tour is a must. Whether it be your first full length album, or just a 4 song EP it’s something you can sell/give away to the public and promotes your band. You can also have t-shirts/badges/stickers/hats/wrist bands, the opportunities are limitless.

Don’t forget the reason why you’re touring. You’re promoting your band in the city you’re playing, you want everyone who likes your band in one city to come again the next time you play there. Always value your fans, give them free stickers/badges and extra bonus tracks on the CDs. People will appreciate it more and you can guarantee lots of bands won’t be doing it!

If you can, arrange contracts between the promoters at each gig. This will ensure they will keep to their side of the bargain and they can’t turn around at the end of the night and insist they never said they would pay you. The musicians union have basic contract templates you can download from their website. It’s simple, and another way of reducing the problems you may face on tour.

You’ll find there’s a lot of spare time in between gigs, if you’ve got spare hours to kill in a city – go busking. I can’t stress enough how useful and lucrative it can be on tour. It also gives you the opportunity to plug your upcoming gig.

Whilst it may sound like a nightmare, it’s incredibly enjoyable and once you’ve got the ‘tour’ bug. You’ll be hooked!

Moving on After Divorce – How to Let Go

Are you having a hard time moving on after a divorce? Do you still wake up feeling as though you’re living a nightmare and you wonder if that feeling will ever go away? Do you miss your husband and this makes it impossible to move on after this divorce?

When a split comes unexpectedly and without our consent, it can often be devastating. Our entire life is turned upside down and getting back on our feet can be one of the hardest things we’ll ever do in our life.

Read on to see how you can move on after a divorce and reconnect with your life.

Time to Heal

Marriage is in part a build up of dreams for the future and expectations for a romantic relationship. A divorce is an abrupt end to the hopes, dreams and expectations, especially when the divorce is initiated by him and you have no idea what you did wrong.

It can take some time to simply get over that initial pain and come to accept the end of that dream. Letting go can be difficult as we cling to all the we were supposed to build a house together and we were supposed to go to Aruba for our vacation, and we were supposed to raise our children together.

Get Close

It’s easy to throw ourselves a pity party and wallow in our heartache. We want to shut the world out and review all that we did wrong and all that could have been.

Shutting off might serve a purpose for a day or two. You need to find yourself with your own thoughts and cry yourself out. But after that few days, you need to get out and connect with the people closest to you.

While talking it out may not initially help you, over time you’ll hear stories of other women‘s recovery from a painful divorce and you can draw strength from their success. Don’t be afraid to stay close to a particular friend or family member who truly understands your story. You’ll find great solace is simply spending time with her.

Back on the Horse

Some women will turn around and date within a heartbeat. They think the best way to move on after a divorce is to get back on that old dating horse as soon as possible. This can work for some women, but many end up finding it all the more painful.

It is important to eventually put yourself back out there, but it’s also important for you to know when you’re ready. Going out on a date with a new guy only to cry about the ex who just dumped you won’t do you a bit of good.

Though you might still need some nudging from a friend to get you back on the dating scene, ensure you’re at least capable of feeling good about being with someone new.

Moving on after a divorce isn’t a two day deal. It can take months and you shouldn’t feel you have to rush through it. Cry plenty and let your friends hear you out. Then get ready to laugh and put it all behind you.

Life does goes on.

Trust in Marriage

A couple should trust each other in many ways. When they meet new people they are expected to be trusted not to wonder from a marriage. Not to have an affair or become involved with anyone else. Trust in marriage is also needed when keeping finances under control. A couple should trust one another to respect each other for example when couples have a joint bank account it is on trust that you both use the account responsibly and trust that it will not be abused by either of you.

A ‘trust marriage’ means to be reliable, honest, confident, consistent and dependant upon one another. Once you have earnt someone’s trust life becomes much easier. There is no worry of jealousy between couples. Wherever you go you know you are being trusted to do the right thing and you have a wealth of respect for each other. There is nothing worse than when couples do not trust each other in marriage. A ‘trust marriage’ should be loyal, amicable and have no confrontations.

Life is too short to become burdened with problems. If a couple pull together at all times then this is what makes a strong ‘trust marriage’. You should want to help each other as much as you can and be there for each other as often as you can. When two people love each other and trust each other then life is more relaxed between the two of you and there us not tension in the atmosphere. When two people pull together they can achieve a life time of trust in their marriage. There are no boundaries set, no limits to keep within, no secrets withheld and no misunderstandings between each other. In fact, a ‘trust marriage’ should run in complete harmony.

A trust marriage from when you work together point of view is of prime importance as you will both need to cross each others paths many times throughout the day for example when clients visit the office and one of you are busy elsewhere, the other person is trusted to entertain the client in not only a business manner but also on a personal level. This can be advantageous to both the client and yourselves as one of you can take care of the mundane items whilst leaving valuable quality time for the rest of the meeting when your partner returns. On a more personal note, you can make your client feel more relaxed and less anxious as you can prepare drinks and informally chat about subjects such as hubbies and past times together. You can build a great rapport between the client and yourself which comes in very useful for future communications. Again, a bond of trust is needed to establish a true ‘trust marriage’ even from a business relationship.

If you trust someone not to stray from marriage then you must also trust them not to have an affair or sleep with anyone else. Marriage is a serious business and can only thrive if there is trust between the two of you. Your partner also relies on you for your stability, continuity, dependability and you are being relied on to fulfil a trust marriage. When you satisfy each others needs then there is no reason to desire anyone else in a trust marriage. Trust does not mean being possessive. Trust is a request that you make to each other to abide by. To be trusted in marriage and to continue to remain trusted and faithful to for as long as you are married. If more people were trusting then the world would be a happier one.

Long Distance Relationship Tips – Love From Miles Away

Is college or your career bringing you far from your man and you need long distance relationship tips to make this work? Would you have preferred to stay close to him, but your obligations are important to you and good long distance relationship tips will get you through? Have you seen plenty of friends split up due to a long distance relationship and you don’t want to see that happen to you?

Relationships are hard enough when you’re right there at each other’s side. When you put hundreds or even thousands of miles between a man and a woman it can be virtually impossible. But as difficult as it is, there are plenty of couples who manage to succeed, and many even thrive. Read the following long distance relationship tips to see how you can give your romance a winning chance.

Open Communication

Whether you’re going to use the phone, texting, emails or webcam, it’s important that you stay in touch. Technology today affords you plenty of choices that make you feel like you’re right there with him.

Try to keep each exchange as fun and upbeat as you can. While it’s normal to want to express just how badly you miss him and want to see him again, avoid those tedious lines of questioning about what he’s doing and who he’s doing it with just to ensure he’s being faithful.

Trusting

Trust becomes the biggest issue in a long distance relationship and you’ll probably be tempted to enquire about his fidelity. If he’s true to you, he can grow tired of your constant badgering and may start to slowly wean off communication.

If he is cheating, there’s a good chance he’ll lie. Sad but true. When trust becomes that big an issue and you’re going crazy wondering what he’s up to every weekend, you need to have a good talk with him to find out where his head is on the matter.

Put a Hold

When a relationship is relatively young and new and the naive couple is split apart by obligations, many will opt to simply put the relationship on hold. This takes a great deal of maturity and it can be painful, but it can turn out to be a more healthy choice than constantly pinning.

Know where your heart really is and try as honestly as you can to gauge his. Is he really in it for the long haul? Would it be easier to simply go your own way and reconnect if and when the time is right?

Keep Your Word

When only a few-hours drive separates you, it can be easy making that trip to see one another. But when it’s a plane ride or a day long drive, it can make things more complicated. It’s important in either situation to schedule hook ups that are frequent and solid.

If either of you is constantly reneging on your promise to be there for the other, it can cause friction and growing mistrust.

Long distance relationships aren’t easy. Be realistic before you even attempt it and be mature about it if you decide to give it a go.

My Wife Stopped Wearing Her Wedding Ring! Understanding the Significance of This

Your wife stopped wearing her wedding ring. You’re not sure how long ago it happened but one day you looked at her hand and noticed something was missing. If she always wore the ring and suddenly her finger is bare, that’s got to be a shock. Obviously, your first reaction is curiosity and so you asked her about it right? Most wives in this position have one of a number of answers including, “I forgot to put it on today, my hand is swollen or I didn’t want to damage it.” You must use your inner instinct to truly understand what’s going on and of course, you have to watch her behavior as today turns into tomorrow and the week goes on. Although not wearing a wedding ring is often a simple and innocent oversight on the part of a wife, it can also be a sign of much marital dissatisfaction lurking deep in her heart.

There are a number of reasons why women stop wearing their wedding rings:

It doesn’t fit anymore. Sadly, for us women, weight gain is not subjective. It doesn’t all go to our hips or thighs as we claim. Hands do accumulate fat when a woman gains weight and that size 5 sparkler you gave her on your wedding day may not fit past her knuckle now. If your wife is a little curvier than she was the day you two married, this may be the culprit.

She’s incredibly active. Women who love to work out, be it running, biking or tending to the garden, often strip themselves of jewellery for comfort reasons. If your wife was often taking her wedding ring on and off, she may also be concerned about losing it. This is more common than most men realize and you can typically tell if this is the reason why the ring is missing from your wife’s finger. If she always puts it on when you two go out or when she’s just relaxing around the house, she cherishes that ring and its meaning.

She’s having an affair. This seems incredibly obvious and sadly it is. If you catch your wife without her ring on when she returns home at times, it may be because she’s hiding it in her pocket or handbag. This is often the first tangible sign of an affair and if you’ve had gnawing suspicions about how faithful she is, it is well worth investigating.

Her feelings have changed. A woman’s wedding ring is a sign of her devotion and commitment to her husband. It’s an outward sign of the silent vows that are made between a couple not only the day they marry but as their life together matures. If your wife feels less close to you or she feels there’s an emotional disconnect between you two, she may have removed the ring because it’s a painful reminder of happier times. If your wife seems dissatisfied with the marriage in general it’s very likely that’s why she isn’t wearing her wedding ring anymore.

If you do happen to notice that the absent ring has become a pattern, do speak to your wife about what she’s feeling in relation to the marriage. If it is something as innocent as her hands not accommodating the ring anymore you can have it resized or perhaps pick out a new one as an upcoming anniversary gift.

If her reasoning is more serious it’s important to address what she feels before the ring becomes a symbol of a marriage that failed. Take the missing ring as a sign that you need to converse more with your wife. It could very well be a life changing discussion for you both.

Car Wash Equipment for Cleaning Interiors and Exteriors of Cars

When shopping for car wash equipment, you should keep in mind car detailing requires at least two sets of equipment. For cleaning the outer surface of cars, you should use a powerful commercial pressure washer, while interior detailing requires carpet cleaners and steam cleaners.

Washing Car External Surfaces

Car wash equipment such as pressure washers, offer varied pressure levels and temperature levels among other features. These machines are known for their fast and effective cleaning. A pressure washer should have high pressure levels, not exceeding 1500 psi if you are washing cars and trucks. While regular car detailing equipment has flow rates of 2-3 GPM, if you have a mobile car wash business, it is better to invest in a machine with low flow rates. Low flow car wash equipment has flow rates as low as 0.5 GPM. They emit very hot steam at high pressure (1000-1500 psi) to clean vehicles without using too much water.

There is car cleaner machines specifically designed for car washes. These machines have, in addition to low flow rates, several advantages such as ability to melt snow and ice on engines and car exteriors, clean greasy engines, and remove bugs, plant sap, road dust, and other dirt from cars.

Steam Cleaners

Auto detailing businesses should never use a steam cleaner for cleaning the exterior of a vehicle. Steam cleaners, for one, do not have the high pressure levels of pressure washers and are therefore not adequate for degreasing engines, trucks, and car surfaces. Also, these machines use dry vapor along with brushes, which forces the user to wipe the car constantly through the cleaning process, resulting in scratches to the painted surface.

However, steam cleaners are great for removing dirt, mold, pollen, pet hair, and food crumbs from car interiors. A portable steam cleaner can be easily wheeled around and it cleans dashboards, windows, seats and door handles perfectly. A portable steam cleaner often has temperatures as high as 386°F. At such high temperatures, spot cleaning carpets is easy and the accumulated mold and grime on various surfaces can be quickly dissolved and wiped off with a towel or removed with detailing tools. A portable steam cleaner is a great machine for a mobile car wash and is easily portable around different areas.

Carpet Cleaners

A steam cleaner cannot clean the entire upholstery and carpets inside a car. This is why auto detailing businesses use carpet cleaners. These machines may have temperatures as high as 210°F. Carpet cleaning machines meant for car washing should ideally have wands that are shorter than those found in regular carpet cleaners.

It is recommended you purchase a low flow machine, as they consume less water and make the cleaning process eco-friendly as well as efficient. Low flow machines enable carpets to dry faster, decreasing the likelihood of mold growth on carpets.

When using carpet cleaners, use an ecofriendly detergent. These detergents are non toxic, cost effective, and do not cause fires and fumes. Because they are plant based, they are easily biodegradable.

The right car wash equipment result in greater savings, enhanced productivity, and higher customer satisfaction.

Best New Car Deals: Simple Tips in Searching for These

Searching for the best new car deals from different sources can be a time-consuming and arduous task. This is because you need to check all of the available deals and assess each of these in order to determine the best offers from the not-so-good ones. In addition to this, the abundance of the number of available offers makes the search for the best ones more complicated.

However, this doesn’t mean that it is impossible for car finders like you to obtain the most appropriate and affordable offer. In fact, there is a simple way on how to do the search and obtain better results. If you want to make sure that you would find the best new car deals and be able to choose the best, try to consider the following tips.

1. Figure out a realistic budget

The most important thing that you should do before searching for the best car deals is to figure out a realistic budget that you would be using for your next car purchase. By doing this, you will determine the amount that you need to set aside for the car loan payments.

In order to come up with the amount that you can set aside for the loan premiums each month, you need to take your monthly home pay and your average monthly expenses into account. Try to deduct your expenses from the income and take note of the remaining amount. This is very important since the remaining amount would probably become your existing budget for the loan payment.

Since you already know the amount that you can afford for the loan obligations each month, you can now identify the best deals from those that are not. Through this, you will also avoid getting some of the deals that you cannot handle.

2. Take note of the other miscellaneous expenses

You also need to take note of the other miscellaneous expenses involved when you are able to obtain the vehicle that you want own. This includes the cost of gasoline, car insurance costs, and car maintenance costs. By knowing these you will be able to adjust the price range of the car that you will be purchasing as well as the new car deal that you would be taking.

3. Check your credit report

Don’t forget to obtain the latest copy of your credit report and examine your credit score. You should always bear in mind that a good credit score would allow you to qualify for the best car deals offered by dealerships and lenders.

Try to check the entries included on the report. If you find errors on your report, have it corrected or removed right away for this would surely improve your credit score and increase your chances of getting the best deals.

Always remember that correcting any errors on your credit report would usually take a month of investigation before any mistake on the report is removed. Due to this fact, try to check your credit report a few months before since planning ahead could provide you a great advantage.

4. Car lease or purchase

Make sure to decide on whether you would take a car lease or purchase the vehicle before you shop around for the best deals. Doing this is very helpful since this would allow you to focus your attention on a particular type of deals.

Remember that getting a car lease allows you to pay for lower monthly premiums but you are given the chance to gain full-ownership of the vehicle that is subjected to lease. In addition to this, car leasing involves mileage restriction that requires you to pay for penalties in the event that you exceed the mileage limit.

Car purchase on the other hand allows you to gain full-ownership of the vehicle as soon as you pay the loan off. However, the monthly payments involved are relatively higher.

5. Conduct extensive car research

After deciding on whether you would buy or just lease a car, make sure to conduct extensive car research. Search for the invoice prices of the cars that you are interested in. Knowing the invoice prices of the cars that you want to have will help you in negotiating with the car dealers. Since you already know the invoice price of a particular car, you can now demand for possible price cuts and discounts from the dealer.

Try to make a short list of the invoice prices of the cars that you are interested in for this will serve as your guide when shopping around for the best new car deals offered by dealerships and lenders. You can actually use the information included on your list to decide whether a particular deal is good or not.

6. Shop around for the best new car deals

Shop around for the best new car deals by obtaining all of the available new car quotes from local dealerships. This could mean that you should need to visit the dealerships in your area one after the other and request for their quotes. Compare each of these and select the one with the best offer.

By the time that you have found the best offer, take note of the requirements provided by the dealership or lender. Make sure to consolidate the requirements and bring these with you when the negotiation is conducted. Try to understand the terms and conditions involved on the deal before signing any document. This would help you avoid any inconvenience and maximize the benefits obtained from the deal.

How to Enhance Your ATV Boot’s Life

ATV’s have two very noticeable characteristics – sleek attractive designs and amazing speeds. They are the center of attraction wherever they are and anyone who has been on one instantly becomes an admirer and an ATV enthusiast. However an ATV’s performance goes hand in hand with its maintenance and upkeep. In this article we will focus our attention on ATV boots which are an integral part of such machines. ATV boots help in maneuverability by negotiating steep turns and tough terrains. Here we will list a few tips that ATV owners can use to enhance its life.

• Clean the Chassis after Use

ATV’s are meant to be used aggressively and on rough muddy terrains and deserts. As a result, they tend to get very dirty. Many ATV owners tend to keep their ATV dirty showing it off as a sign that their rig has been tested to the extreme. The better practice would be to thoroughly clean and wash the chassis under the vehicle. ATVs can handle mud well however any foreign particles that might get stuck in the mud can and will cause problems for boots in the long run. Cleaning the chassis from underneath ensures that such a problem never occurs.

• Regular Inspection on a Timely Basis

This doesn’t just apply to ATV boots specifically. The entire ATV should be carefully inspected from time to time to ensure all parts are working in optimal condition. The ATV will begin to show signs of wear and tear over time, especially the boot of the ATV. Manual inspection under the chassis will point out any parts that require immediate attention and can save the owner from costly repairs in the long run.

• Avoid Generic ATV Boots

Original manufacture parts are expensive but they are more durable and long lasting. They also carry the manufacture warranty and can be replaced if the product does not live up to its expectations. ATV boots are no different. It is advisable to only use parts recommended by the ATV manufacturer. True that the generic ones are indeed significantly cheaper but their quality is also significantly lower and they are much more prone to wear and tear than the original ones.

• Pay Attention to Any Signs of Malfunction

ATV boots will show visible signs of malfunction. Users should pick up on that and take it to a certified mechanic immediately. In most instances the boot of an ATV can be repaired if the malfunctioning symptoms are caught early on and the damage is not severe. Ignoring these signs altogether puts the ATV and the user at risk as the ATV boot might eventually give out causing the ATV joints to snap and break.

As a general rule of thumb, proper inspection and maintenance is a guaranteed way for prolonging the life of an ATV boot. ATVs repairs are expensive. A little preventative maintenance goes a long way in prolonging your rig.

The Most Popular One Hit Wonders!

According to Wikipedia, the term one-hit wonder refers to “a person or act known mainly for only a single success”. Most times, people use it to talk about recording artists who only had one song that ever got a top ranking in official music charts such as Billboard 200 or Hit Parade.

Here is a round-up of various one-hit wonders from different musical eras and genres. See which ones you are familiar with!

1. Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy” (1988)

The lyrics of this song sound like a motivational mini-speech especially meant for those who are down on their luck.

The song was part of the soundtrack of the movie “Cocktail,” which starred Tom Cruise. It also garnered Grammy awards for song and record of the year.

2. Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” (1990)

This song, originally written by Prince, is probably one of the most famous love songs of all time.

Its music video – which mostly featured a close-up of Sinead O’Connor’s face, interspersed with shots of her walking through the Parc de Saint-Cloud in Paris – became one of the most recognizable videos of the 1990s.

One of the song’s biggest claims to fame would probably be its inclusion on Billboard’s “Greatest Songs of All Time”, at no. 77.

3. The Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out?” (2000)

This song was originally written and recorded by Anslem Douglas in 1988. It was covered by the Baha Men for the “Rugrats in Paris: The Movie” soundtrack in 2000.

Aside from being a huge hit in the US, UK, and Australia, the song won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in 2001.

Ironically, this song was also labelled by Matthew Wilkening of AOL Radio in 2010 as the number 2 in his list of the “100 Worst Songs Ever”!

4. A-ha’s “Take On Me” (1985)

There are probably very few people who grew up in the ’80s who are not familiar with this number one hit by Norwegian pop group A-ha.

Its catchy tune is easily danceable, and its lyrics can be memorized easily.

Nonetheless, the first version of the single did not make waves on the music scene worldwide. It was only when the second version was made into a music video by Warner Bros. that people began to take notice of it. The video soon became hugely popular, largely due to its exposure on MTV.

The song eventually topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October 1985 and stayed there for 23 weeks. Its third release saw it gaining huge success on the European music charts.

5. Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” (1992)

This song by German duo Right Said Fred expresses the sentiments of a fashion model who’s just a bit too confident about himself – he’s “too sexy for his shirt; so sexy, it hurts!”

In 1992, it was listed as number 1 on the American music charts. Earlier, it had already entered the British charts, gaining second place.

Like the Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out?” this song “I’m Too Sexy” was also included in AOL Radio’s 2010 list of the “100 Worst Songs Ever”; it took eighth place.

Although Right Said Fred is considered a one-hit wonder in North America, some of their other songs also made it to the British music charts.

Do You Have Good Friends?

Friends are a gift of God. If we have good friends, we should assume that God has showered us with His unlimited grace. What does a good friend mean? What are the differences between ordinary friends and good friends? What is friendship?

Let us begin our enquiry by asking about what is friendship? Can it be defined? What is the relationship of friendship? What qualities does this relationship have? When two persons share common interests, care for each other, enjoy being together and help each other, they are called as friends. Is this a correct definition? It broadly covers the areas of friendship.

For being a good friend, we should share more of these qualities. Is that right? Say, you share some interests with your friend, and there are few things that interest you, but are of no interest to your friend. Does this make your friendship ordinary? Sit back and count your good friends. Now count the interests that you share and those that you don’t. Is there any mathematical formula? Can one be a good friend, even if one shares very few interests? Provided of course, that our qualities that I mentioned above are in plenty?

What about caring for each other? Many a times, we find that friends are careless in their relationship, but when it comes to crunch situations, they come forward with all their might and show tremendous care. Does this imply, that even if a friend is not much caring on a day-to-day basis, he/she can still be a good friend, if there is a strong affinity that brings them together?

Let us talk of enjoying each other’s company. Does this mean that good friends avoid others? Are they always found together? What if they don’t meet each other for a month? This relationship is indefinable. Isn’t it? Because being a good friend of someone may mean that we care for each other deeply, but need not show it always. We are ready to help whenever the need arises. That even if we are not together all the time, we love being together. We defend each other whenever any external threat arises. The last test is the final test of good friendship. Friends may remain away for a long period and continue with their life, but when the need arises, they are together. They share a bond that ties them together. They have shared so much with each other that the past always carries itself in the future.

Friendship means that we like each other. We have shared some great moments together. We value and respect each other. Unless there is a bond of hearts and emotions, no outward sign can make a friendship good.
